On 16 June 1944 the fascists of the Social Republic organized a colossal raid on the factories in western Genoa, rounding up the metalworkers. Locked in two sealed trains, they were taken to Mauthausen and then sorted into the workshops for the production of Nazi tanks. Beaten, insulted and condemned to starvation, they lived in captivity in their vests, witnessing the collapse of the regime.
