Bolloré uses the synergies and sounding board of its television, radio and journalistic channels to impose the themes and rhythms of the legislative campaign that has begun in France
Sensational revelation from the authoritative French newspaper Le Monde: the giant of Vincent Bolloré has put all its media at the service of an alliance between the Rassemblement National of Marine Le Pen and Les Républicains (LR), or the post-Gaullist conservative centre-right. From CNews to JDD, from Paris Match to Europe 1, for a week now, after the European Championships on 9 June, Bolloré has been using the synergies and sounding board of his television, radio and journalistic channels to impose the themes and rhythms of the legislative campaign that is open in France.
On June 10, he revealed Le Monde, the media mogul received a visit from the head of the LR, in his home on Boulevard de Montmorency, to orchestrate his demonstration in front of the RN headquarters. Vincent Bolloré and Eric Ciotti often had lunch together. But the Breton industrialist has established himself, in the United States, as a figure similar to the head of Fox News, Roger Ailes, who brought Donald Trump’s candidacy onto the scene in 2016 and recommended him for his television debates. To rally the far-right party, Eric Ciotti asked for Bolloré’s blessing and not that of former president Nicolas Sarkozy, who was not even notified.
Le Monde recalls that for some time the owner of CNews, Paris Match, Europe 1 and Le Journal du Dimanche has been imagining and working on a “union of the right“, which would be expressed precisely with the alliance between LR and RN. Some time ago, Ciotti himself declared that he shared with the entrepreneur the concern “for the preservation of French identity”. Every summer the two meet in the south of France and they are often seen having lunch together in the capital, the newspaper recalls; in the presidential elections that brought Macron back to the Elysée for his second current mandate, in 2022, both would have supported Eric Zemmour if he had reached the second round (but he only got 7% in the first). Now the right-wing turn orchestrated by Bolloré.
