Nine peopleincluding two children, were injured in a shooting at a water park in Rochester Hills, Michigan. According to Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard in a press conference, one of the victims, an 8-year-old boy, was hit in the head and is hospitalized in critical condition, while the other 4-year-old boy hit in the thigh, he was stabilized in hospital. A third victim, a 39-year-old woman with injuries to her abdomen and leg, is in critical condition, the sheriff added, explaining that “these three victims are related.” Among the other injured, aged between 30 and 78, there is a married couple and a municipal employee.
The man suspected in the shooting killed himself at a home in nearby Shelby Township, Bouchard said, reporting that his identity is not yet known. According to what has been reconstructed, shortly after 5pm, an armed man approached the Brooklands Plaza Splash Pad, got out of his vehicle and opened fire, apparently indiscriminately. The suspect used a semiautomatic handgun, appeared to reload at least twice and fired about 28 shots, Bouchard said. The man had no known connection to the victims.
