Security authorities say they want to avoid aggression in the English team’s match against Serbia in the European Championship on Sunday (June 16)
German police officers asked England fans to replace alcoholic drinks with marijuana at the Euro Cup match on Sunday (June 16), which marks the team’s debut in the tournament. The objective is to make fans less aggressive, according to information from the newspaper The Sun.
To the newspaper, a spokesman for the German police said that the drug puts people in a good mood. Marijuana was legalized in Germany on April 1st this year and is prohibited in stadiums, but it is possible to smoke it on the streets. The country hosts this year’s edition of the European Championship.
“If we see a group of people drinking alcohol and looking a little aggressive, and another group smoking marijuana, we will approach the group drinking alcohol.”spokesman Stephan Knipp told The Sun.
The English team’s match on Sunday will be against Serbia and is scheduled for 4pm (Brasília time) and will be played at the Veltins-Arena, in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. Both are in group C of the European Championship. The English are favorites to win the tournament.
