This Saturday (June 15), the Metropolitan Region of Recife recorded barriers slipping, vegetation falling and roads flooding
Recife recorded more than 140 mm of rain in the last 24 hours, a number that represents 40% of the average forecast for the month of June. In addition to the capital, municipalities in the Metropolitan Region and Zona da Mata of Recife also recorded disruptions caused by precipitation.
This Saturday (June 15, 2024), parts of the capital of Pernambuco were flooded and there is a risk of barriers slipping and vegetation falling in some areas. On social media, residents shared photos and videos of the flooding.

Rain warning
On Saturday afternoon, the Recife city hall issued a yellow alert, indicating a level of attention regarding precipitation in the coming hours. Municipal management also suspended the tourism, leisure and non-essential activities agenda.
Flooding is also impacted by the peak of the tide and the flood of rivers in the region. According to APAC (Pernambucana Water and Climate Agency), until 3:15 pm this Saturday, 4 rivers in the state were in a flood situation, namely:
- Ipojuca River, municipality of Ipojuca;
- Sirinhaém, municipality of Barra de Guabiraba;
- Sirigi, municipality of Vicência: and
- Amaranji, municipality of Ribeirão.
Another 5 rivers in the region are on alert, they are:
- Capibaribe, municipality of São Lourenço da Mata;
- Duas Unas, municipality of Jaboatão dos Guararapes;
- Jaboatão, municipality of Jaboatão dos Guararapes;
- Pirangi, municipality of São Benedito do Sul; It is
- Capibaribe Mirim, municipality of Itambé.
Also according to Apac, the rains are expected to continue in Recife this Sunday (June 16). The forecast is that the day will continue with isolated rain showers, of light to moderate intensity.
