Ministry of Economic Development: tourists from Europe receive visas to Russia on general terms
Director of the Department of Multilateral Economic Cooperation and Special Projects of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Nikita Kondratyev revealed details of tourists from Europe visiting Russia. He spoke on this topic in an interview RIA News within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
Kondratiev noted that European travelers receive visas to Russia under general conditions – the same as citizens of other countries. At the same time, he emphasized that in Russia they do not interfere with this category of foreigners in this matter, since “tourism is outside of politics.”
“Europeans are coming to us, yes. If you look at the same statistics on e-visas, China takes first place, followed by Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and then European countries, primarily Germany and Estonia. However, as for European countries, now this is an individual story,” the agency’s interlocutor explained.
In February, the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) said that foreign tourists would flock to Russia en masse in 2023 thanks to e-visas. According to the Association, at the end of the year the flow of foreign tourists to the Russian Federation increased more than three times.
Russia launched a service for issuing unified electronic visas for foreign tourists in August 2023. Citizens of 55 countries, including European ones, can receive them.
