Emirati media institutions participating in the 16th edition of the Gulf Radio and Television Festival Awards, which concluded its activities yesterday, Thursday, in the Bahraini capital, Manama, won 17 various awards, in addition to honoring three of the pioneers of Emirati media work, Hessa Al-Asili, Muhammad Najeeb, and Ahmed Saeed Al-Mansouri.
The UAE participated in the festival through the “United Arab Emirates Media” pavilion, which was organized by the Emirates Media Council. Participants competed in 46 different award categories, which included television and radio programmes, dramas and digital media.
Abu Dhabi Media Network won eight awards in various categories, and Dubai Media won nine awards at the conclusion of the activities of the sixteenth Gulf Radio and Television Festival.
The festival honored three pioneers of radio, television and sports media work in the Emirates who played a prominent role in shaping the Emirati media scene: Ahmed Saeed Al Mansouri in the television category, the distinguished broadcaster Hessa Al Asili, and the distinguished sports journalist Muhammad Najeeb.
