Aleix Espargaro wins the Barcelona Sprint Race in the MotoGP Catalunya GP ahead of Marc Marquez and Pedro Acosta. Fourth place for Jorge Martin and fifth for Enea Bastianini. Race dotted with crashes with the most incredible being Pecco Bagnaia who slipped away at turn 6 of the last lap while he was leading and launched towards victory at Montmelò. A real shame for Pecco Bagnaia with three retirements in the last three Sprint Races, which loses second place in the World Championship standings. Before him, the Spaniard Raul Fernandez and then the South African Brad Binder crashed while leading the Sprint. Aleix Espargaro took advantage of the situation and won the race, while World Championship leader Jorge Martin finished in fourth place on his Ducati Pramac. Closing the top ten is sixth place for Fabio Di Giannantonio on the Team VR46 bike, followed by Miller, Maverick Vinales, Marco Bezzecchi and Fabio Quartararo. Morbidelli only 11th.
In the general classification therefore Martin remains firmly in command with 135 points followed by Marquez with 98 and Bastianini with 94, and by Bagnaia who slipped to fourth place with 91 points. The race is scheduled for tomorrow at 3pm.
