In the Urals, the sister of a Northern Military District soldier did not believe in her brother’s suicide and opened his zinc coffin
The sister of a special military operation (SVO) soldier insisted on opening his coffin. The Russian woman doubted the reasons for the death of her relative.
The story took place in the city of Novouralsk, Sverdlovsk region. Oleg Smirnov went to the Northern Military District as a volunteer, and three months later his family was informed of his death. At the military registration and enlistment office, relatives learned that the man had committed suicide. There they were given a copy of the medical death certificate from Donetsk.
“I came to the military registration and enlistment office in Novouralsk on January 23, and they told me (that my brother was no longer there – approx. “Tapes.ru”),” said Anastasia, the fighter’s sister. After this, she insisted that the zinc coffin be opened. “Are you ready for it to be rough out there?” — the woman recalled a question addressed to her by one of the funeral home employees.
Relatives found a trace of a wound on the soldier’s body
According to Anastasia, when examining the man’s body, they noticed a trace of a wound in the right side. Relatives are sure that this is the result of a shrapnel, knife or bullet wound.
The relatives were also confused by another detail – the examination report described the size of the spleen, which the serviceman had removed about 20 years ago.
However, the first forensic examination did not even indicate that his brother had a hole in his side. I’m sure it’s a shrapnel, knife or bullet wound. Moreover, in the examination conclusion, specialists from Donetsk described the size of Oleg’s spleen, but Oleg had it removed almost 20 years ago after a serious accident
Relatives appealed to the Investigative Committee (IC) for Novouralsk with a demand to conduct a re-examination. According to them, the discovered wound in the side was never examined. Then the relatives of the deceased turned to the military prosecutor’s office and the military Investigative Committee.
Smirnov left for the Northern Military District in September 2023
Oleg Smirnov, who went through the second Chechen war, left for a special operation in September 2023. Before that, he lived in St. Petersburg and worked as a security guard. The last time, according to the sister, the serviceman made contact was on December 25. The next day, as stated in the conclusion, he died.
“My brother last contacted me on December 25, 2023, everything was fine, after that he disappeared. The transportation was postponed, and the body was brought in on the night of January 28,” Anastasia said, adding that their family did not believe the suicide version. “Even by virtue of his character, he could not do this,” she emphasized.
The situation was taken under control by the Ombudsman in the Sverdlovsk region Tatyana Merzlyakova
According to the portal E1.RUCommissioner for Human Rights in the Sverdlovsk Region Tatyana Merzlyakova sent a letter to the head of the Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the DPR.
