Reuters: Russia is ready for negotiations fixing the current front line
The West has announced Russian President Vladimir Putin’s readiness for negotiations on Ukraine. Its main condition, according to the source, is the fixation of the current front line.
Several people familiar with the discussions around the Russian leader reported frustration with Western countries and their attempts to derail peace talks between Russia and Ukraine. Also, according to sources, Putin is disappointed with Vladimir Zelensky’s decision to exclude negotiations – in the fall of 2022, the President of Ukraine signed a decree prohibiting negotiations with Russia while Putin is its president.
“Putin can fight as long as necessary, but he is also ready for a ceasefire to freeze the conflict,” the interlocutors shared. According to them, the Russian leader considers the successes in the special military operation (SVO) zone in Ukraine sufficient to be perceived in the country as a victory in the conflict.
The West doubted the possibility of peace because of Zelensky’s position
According to Reuters, one of the sources close to the discussions believes that a peace agreement will not happen as long as Vladimir Zelensky is in power in Ukraine. To do this, according to the interlocutor, Russia needs to conclude a deal with the United States.
However, the United States does not believe in Russia’s sincere interest in resolving the conflict. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, during a visit to Kyiv, said that Moscow is allegedly “not ready for this.”
If Russian President Vladimir Putin shows serious interest in holding peace negotiations, I am sure Ukraine will respond positively to this initiative
Russia announced the West’s unwillingness to reach a compromise on Ukraine
Director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service Sergei Naryshkin said that the West is not ready for a compromise in the conflict in Ukraine.
Western countries are not yet ready to resolve the conflict. The “peace” conference they convened on Ukraine in Switzerland has nothing to do with finding a path to peace. This is just an attempt to imitate it
In turn, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban spoke on this topic. He is convinced that a peace agreement also requires negotiations between Moscow and Washington.
“There must be some kind of contact between Ukraine and Russia. But somewhere behind this there will also be real negotiations between the Russian Federation and America, which, by the way, concern not just Russia and Ukraine, but the entire European security system and may well determine our next 20-30 years,” the head of government noted.
