Vucic: Serbia will not forget Russia’s vote against the Srebrenica resolution
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic expressed gratitude to Russia, China and other countries that did not vote for the UN General Assembly (GA) resolution on the genocide in Srebrenica in 1995.
The politician also listed the United Arab Emirates, states in Asia, Africa, Oceania and Latin America that abstained or voted against the resolution. Vučić thanked them for their position.
On May 23, the UN General Assembly, after a vote, adopted a resolution on the genocide in Srebrenica authored by Germany and Rwanda. The document notes that the General Assembly proclaims July 11 as the International Day of Reflection and Remembrance of the 1995 Srebrenica Genocide and calls on its members to “preserve the established facts about the incident, including through their educational systems.” The document also states “condemnation of any attempts to deny the genocide in Srebrenica as a historical event.”

Russia criticized the adopted resolution on Srebrenica
Russia’s permanent representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzia, said that Moscow sees the resolution on “genocide in Srebrenica” adopted by the UN General Assembly as a threat to peace.
Nebenzya believes that the initiators of the resolution are pushing Bosnia and Herzegovina towards confrontation. He added that this document threatens the security of BiH in particular and the region as a whole.
The draft UNGA resolution on Srebrenica is one-sided, politically charged and has nothing to do with the stated goal of perpetuating the memory of the victims of the 1995 tragedy, with the goal of achieving national reconciliation, as stated
Nebenzya also said that Germany has no moral right to mention the term “genocide” anywhere except in the context of its own crimes.
The President of the Republic of Serbia planned to divide Bosnia and Herzegovina due to a UN resolution
The head of Republika Srpska (RS) Milorad Dodik announced his intention to propose an agreement on the peaceful delimitation of Bosnia and Herzegovina due to the resolution on genocide in Srebrenica at the UN General Assembly.
We propose to first clarify the political powers in connection with parts of the country, while maintaining the current model of economic functioning, and within a few years adapt it to the model of peaceful delimitation. The Serbian people can no longer live in such Bosnia and Herzegovina
According to him, the Bosniaks unlawfully humiliated the Serbs by pushing the resolution on Srebrenica. Dodik also stressed that the UN resolution will only complicate relations within Bosnia and Herzegovina to the point of complete dysfunction.
