The Dubai Sports Council organized at its headquarters a “Best Practices Workshop for Exploring and Developing Sports Talents,” in which experts, technicians and administrators at government and private academies in Dubai met to present and discuss the most important ideas related to the strategy of attracting and developing talent in all sports.
The workshop was attended by Nasser Aman Al Rahma, Assistant Secretary General of the Dubai Sports Council, Ahmed Salem Al Mahri, Director of the Council’s Sports Development Department, academy officials, representatives of clubs and federations, and coaches of a number of international and local academies in the country.
In the first session of the workshop, Dr. Zlajko Baniszevic, Founder and CEO of the HERC Foundation, and Dr. Sajad Karami, founder and director of Spotify Academy, Mohamed Al-Sayed, CEO of the Dutch Funds and Amsterdam Clinic, and Paul de Cort, director of movement analysis and prevention at the Dutch Funds and Amsterdam Clinic. Multidisciplinary approaches to identifying and developing sports talent were discussed, and the speakers reviewed models for scouting sports talent in schools. Educational, presented by Dr. Zlajko, a 360 model for identifying sports talents, while Dr. Sajad talked about the specifics and procedures of discovering sports talent in schools, and Paul de Kort spoke about sustainable investment in sports talent: the Dutch road map to top sports from school to sports clubs.
In the second session, Dr. Anis Chaouachi, professor and lecturer in sports sciences and former head of the Laboratory for Performance Improvement and Sports Research at the National Center for Medicine and Sports Sciences from Tunisia, Dr. Olivier Mattern, expert in sports medicine at the high performance centers of the Qatar Football Association, Aspire Aspetar, Glasgow Rangers, Nottingham Forest, member of the Women’s Medical and Performance Committee of the European Club Organization, and Jean-Claude Lafargue, lecturer at the French Football Federation and former technical director of the Clairefontaine Center in Paris. .
Dr. reviewed. Anis Al-Shawashy, methods of developing talent capabilities in sports clubs, and the role of scientific research in identifying and developing sports talent, while Dr. Olivier discussed the impact of the stages of growth and puberty on sports talents’ acquisition of skills, avoiding injuries and achieving achievements, and Jean-Claude spoke about understanding how to develop football talents.
The third session included Dr. Murad Al-Gharairi, Medical Director at the FIFA Medical Center of Excellence in Dubai, Melina Bailey, Health Policy Advisor, and Fatima Anwahi, Child Protection Specialist at the Community Development Authority, were discussed. Activating the ecosystem for developing sports talents, health care for sports talents, medical and physical tests for football talents, and the care model were discussed. Health services to develop the performance of sports talents, protect talents in sports institutions, and the role of the child protection program in supporting sports talents.
