Knezevich, 36, has been detained in Miami without bail since May 4 for his alleged responsibility in the disappearance of his wife.
Last week, he was accused by the Prosecutor’s Office of “seizing, confining and kidnapping” the Colombian woman, a crime for which he could be sentenced to life imprisonment, if found guilty.
The last news that her loved ones had about her was that she was looking for a new rental apartment with the expectation of staying in Madrid.
This same Monday, her brother, Felipe Henao, asked for justice for his sister, as well as help to find her whereabouts.
“We hope to find her soon. If anyone internationally, anywhere, has information about where she is, anything she has seen, please come and contact the authorities so we can bring justice for her,” the brother asked. the outside of the court.
Knezevich was detained at the Miami airport, where he arrived on a flight from Serbiaafter the suspicions of the FBI due to his similarities with the man who entered the apartment building in Madrid in which the woman lived with a motorcycle helmet, and where he sprayed paint on the security cameras.
Based on the surveillance images, the Spanish Police identified the brand of paint used that day by the man to disable the security camera and located the store where it was sold.
Surveillance footage from the store “showed an individual who appeared to be Knezevich purchasing the paint sprayer and two rolls of duct tape” on Feb. 2, tape he used on the building’s lock, according to the court filing.
Knezevich’s defense maintains that his client is innocent and was in his native Serbia the day his wife disappeared, about 1,600 miles (2,574 kilometers) away.
The authorities, however, suspect that the detainee rented a vehicle and was later seen traveling along the street where the apartment where the woman lived in the Spanish capital was located.
