The president would participate in an investment announcement for COP30 in Planalto; according to Haddad, the government will present initiatives to help Rio Grande do Sul
The president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) canceled its participation in the ceremony in which Itaipu will announce this Monday (May 6, 2024) the investment of R$ 1.3 billion to hold COP30, in Belém (PA), in 2025. The event is held at the Planalto Palace. Early in the morning, Lula participated in a meeting with ministers Rui Costa (Civil House) and Fernando Haddad (Farm). Upon returning to the ministry, Haddad told journalists that the government will announce new relief actions for Rio Grande do Sul, hit by severe flooding in recent days. The minister, however, did not give details about what should be presented. He said he presented the president with the current “scenarios”. Planalto has not yet announced the time for the announcement.
