The president of the Chamber, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), stated that leaders and technicians from the Chamber and the Senate are called to a meeting on the morning of this Monday, 6th, about the disasters in Rio Grande do Sul.
According to Lira, Congress’s responsibility this week is to develop a “totally extraordinary measure” in relation to the tragedies.
“Leaders have already been summoned for tomorrow, early in the morning, so that, together with the Federal Senate, the technical part of both Houses, party leaders can discuss the cause and effect of what has been happening repeatedly in Brazil,” he said.
Lira’s statements came after the governor of Rio Grande do Sul, Eduardo Leite (PSDB), had called for a kind of “Marshall Plan” for the reconstruction of the State.
Among the measures mentioned by Leite are the creation of social benefits and extraordinary funding for social assistance and health.
