President returns to the state with ministers and other authorities to monitor the damage caused by heavy rains
The president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) and First Lady Janja da Silva arrived in Rio Grande do Sul late this Sunday morning (May 5, 2024) to monitor the situation of the victims affected by heavy rains in the State. The head of the Executive disembarked at the Canoas air base, where he was received by ministers Paulo Pimenta (Secretariat of Communication) and Waldez Góes (Integration and Regional Development).
The 2 assistants have been in Rio Grande do Sul since Saturday (May 4). Lula leads a delegation that includes the presidents of the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG), from the Chamber, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), and from the TCU (Federal Audit Court), Bruno Dantas.

The group is attended by the minister of the STF (Supreme Federal Court) Edson Fachin. Thirteen of the 38 state ministers also traveled with Lula.
