Meta recently announced a series of significant updates to its AI tools, as detailed in a post on the company blog. Among the most interesting new features stands out a feature for AI image generators, which allows users to remix the images created by AI shared by their friends via chat on Messenger or Instagram. The feature, called “image” by Meta, introduces the ability to “reimagine” images created by other users in the chat group. This can be done by simply long pressing on the image and adding a text prompt.
Additionally, Meta has decided to make the imagine tool available outside of chat, allowing users in the United States to access it via the imagine.meta.com website. The company describes the tool as ideal for those following “creative hobbies” and powers it with its Emu image creation model. In the coming days, an “invisible watermark” is expected to be introduced on images created with the imagine tool. Meta also plans to add watermarks to images generated by its other AI tools, although it hasn’t provided specific details on this.
Also new is Meta’s improved AI assistant, which promises more detailed answers on mobile devices and more accurate summaries of search results. Additionally, Reels will begin appearing in chats with Meta AI. As reported by TechCrunch, Meta’s AI characters, based on celebrities like Snoop Dogg and Tom Brady, are now fully available on WhatsApp, Messenger and Instagram in the US. Meta is also exploring the use of generative AI to offer suggestions for tasks like writing birthday wishes.
