Häntäpään Hokki took their second win of the season.
Kajaani
Guest tour Iisalmi and Kajaani brought two losses to the Helsinki Jokers in the ice hockey Mestis, when not only league leader IPK but also tail end Hokki knocked down the team that returned to domestic rinks.
Hokki, who played strongly for one and a half rounds, defeated Jokerit 4–2. The victory was only the second of the season for Hoki, who were stuck at the tail end, but played better than their results.
“Hokki was ready to give everything to win. Yes, we improved from yesterday and there were better things in it, but the goal-scoring sucks”, the head coach of the Jokers Tero Määtt said.
“One goal seems to require a lot of work at the moment. Maybe we need to analyze a little more through the video and see what things need to be fixed next.”
Jokerit started scoring at the end of the opening set, when Erkka Seppälä interrupted Hawk Tuomas Komulainen pass and played the puck Niclas Tenhovuoriwho placed the puck in the goal Faustas Nauseous between the legs.
Jokeri’s 4–2 reduction was accomplished in the middle of the game with his knuckle lift Alexander Forslund.
“We have to pay a really big price for one goal, which then the guy has to pay a little less”, the Joker’s attacker described the match as difficult Vainö Sirki tightly.
Ice rinks Jokerit, which filled the country, also interested the puck crowd in Kainuu. The match was watched by 1,200 spectators in the sold-out ice hall in Kajaani.
“There have been a lot of ticket inquiries, and there would have been more visitors than average. They have had to say no – wait – the hall can’t take any more”, Hoki’s executive director Sarita Kuusisto told.
Hockey’s audience record of 1,535 spectators is from the spring 2007 semi-final against Vaasan Sport. The number of spectators can be explained by the temporary additional stands that were erected on the other side of the rink.
Similar additional stands are under consideration when Jokerit arrives in Kajaani in February.
“When this game attracted so much interest and there would have been more visitors, we’ll come up with something nice for the next Jokerit match,” Kuusisto promised.
Jokers selling has been easy in Kajaani. Hokki sold the hosting of both Jokerit home matches immediately after the Jokerit Mestis place was secured.
“They were the first to be sold. The club has also been sold out for many weeks. That has also been asked,” Kuusisto said.
The Joker’s season continues next week with two away matches against Rovaniemi Kiekko. Then the team will need more power than this weekend.
“It doesn’t stick to places. We are confident about it, however,” Sirkiä said.
