The military junta the imprisoned former leader of Myanmar Aung San Suu Kyi is in bad shape under house arrest, says the Reuters news agency, referring to its anonymous source.
The generals have denied her access to her own doctor, so 78-year-old Aung San Suu Kyi is dependent on the care of a ward doctor sent from the prison.
“His gums are swollen, he hasn’t been able to eat well, he’s dizzy and he’s been vomiting,” said a Reuters source who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of arrest.
A spokesman for Myanmar’s military junta has not responded to Reuters’ inquiries.
Troop seized power in Myanmar in 2021, and the then head of state, Aung San Suu Kyi, was imprisoned. He has been sentenced to 27 years in prison on the basis of 19 charges.
Aung San Suu Kyi was first in prison in Myanmar’s capital, Naypyitaw. In July, he was transferred to house arrest.
The military junta has killed or imprisoned thousands of its opponents.
