Home game: “I don’t want to box fallen fruit,” says Kiwitt – and hopes that more will come soon.

The career of boxer Freddy Kiwitt is characterized by ups and downs. Actually, he should box at a higher level. But when will commitment, talent and tenacity finally pay off in the job?
Da is so much on his mind. And some things just don’t belong there at this moment, like the calls from his nine-year-old son. Freddy Kiwitt hears him because he’s boxing here, in Flensburg-Mürwik, in front of maybe 400 spectators, and not in the big hall on campus, where 6000 or more could be there. That’s where he wants to go.
“I got a few on the bell at the beginning,” he says later, as he sits sweating in the gym cabin, “but that was also good for waking up.” He laughs, the “Pretty Boy”. That’s his combat name.
