Ahead of the release of its first quarter results, Disney revealed it has awarded a budget of $294.7 million (about 275.3 million euros) for the creation of the new chapter in the Indiana Jones series: Indiana Jones and the Wheel of Destiny. The company’s hope of course is that the film will be a big hit.
Indiana Jones and the Wheel of Destiny will be the fifth time the octogenarian Harrison Ford plays the whip-wielding adventurer created by George Lucas in the 1970s. John Rhys-Davies returns as Indy’s sidekick Sallah, while new cast members include Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, Thomas Kretschmann, Toby Jones and Antonio Banderas.
Indiana Jones and the Wheel of Destiny will be the first Indiana Jones film not written by Lucas. In 2012, Lucas sold his Lucasfilm company for $4 billion to Disney, who gave the new film to the Academy Award-nominated director James Mangold (Logan, Ford v Ferrari).
Indiana Jones and the Wheel of Destiny hits theaters on June 30, 2023.
Moving instead towards video games, it seems that the MachineGames game is in development with Unreal Engine 5.
