Zvika Klein, a journalist for the Israeli newspaper The Jerusalem Post, was outraged when he saw Nazi symbols on the backpack of a soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (APU). The reporter was sent a photo confirmation from one of the Ukrainian soldiers of Jewish origin, whose photo he posted on Twitter on November 4.
In the post, Klein noted the accounts of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, as well as the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, urging them to pay attention to such practices.
“Yesterday, a Jewish Ukrainian soldier was on a train to Kyiv and saw this Ukrainian soldier with a backpack that had a Nazi swastika on the front. I hope this is not a popular trend. Zelensky, I would pay attention to this, ”Klein wrote.
Earlier, a similar scandal erupted around the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny, whose photo with a bracelet with the image of a fascist swastika appeared on Twitter on October 9. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova commented on the photo. In her opinion, this picture is his own “ongoing PR campaign for self-promotion” of Zaluzny.
On September 14, military historian, political scientist, expert of the Russian Military Historical Society (RVIO) Nikita Buranov said that Ukrainian nationalists began to put new symbols on their equipment – white crosses, reminiscent of the sign of the Wehrmacht during the Second World War. The Armed Forces of Ukraine copy this style, and no one hides it there, Buranov concluded.
On August 13, the Izvestia military correspondent showed drawings of the swastika, NATO badges, and even a custom-made watch with the corresponding design at the former location of the radicals.
Since February 24, Russia has been conducting a special operation to protect the population of Donbass. The key goals of the Russian military are the denazification and demilitarization of the Kyiv regime. Moscow has repeatedly stressed that strikes are being carried out only on military infrastructure.
