Sheikh Rashid bin Dalmouk Al Maktoum, Vice Chairman of the Emirates Racing Authority and Chairman of the Dubai Racing Club, crowned the champions of the first edition of the Emirates Racing Authority Awards Ceremony for the activities of the 31st season of Emirati horse racing, which was held at Caesar Palace Hotel – Dubai on the island of Bluewaters yesterday.
The ceremony began with the arrival of Sheikh Rashid bin Dalmouk Al Maktoum, then Engineer Mohammed Saeed Al Shehhi, Board Member and Director General of the Emirates Racing Authority, delivered a speech in which he saluted His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidential Court, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Authority For horse racing, on the vision of His Highness in the development of racing.
The ceremony, which is being held for the first time, witnessed the distribution of prizes to honor the distinguished personalities in the races from all over the country, and prizes were distributed to those who deserve it, including the champion jockeys Taj Osheh, the coaches champion Bubat Semar, the champion angel Khaled Khalifa Al Naboodah, the champion of trainee jockeys Saif Al Balushi, and several other categories It was revealed during the ceremony.
The awards also include the Pat Smolin Award for the best jockey performance of the season, which was won by the Brazilian Bernardo Pinheiro, the Rising Star Award to honor a member of the stables team for his achievements, which was won by Tahnoun Al-Alawi, the chief politician in his father’s stable, coach Hilal Al-Alawi, and the Best Media Analyst award, which was won by Muhammad Al-Ahmad From Dubai Racing Channel.
He won the AF Al Buraq Champion of Purebred Arabian Stallions, and the Khalid Khalifa Al Naboodah Champion of Purebred Arabian Horses Award, sponsored by the Emirates Arabian Horse Association, presented by Mohammed Al Harbi, Director of the Association.
Al Shehhi said: “We hope that local racing enthusiasts will support this new initiative, and that it will be a new way to launch the new season in the country, which begins October 28.”
The winners were selected by an expert committee set up by the Emirates Racing Authority.
