In 2019 there was a lot of excitement for the premiere of Avengers: Endgame. After years of building a shared universe with the MCU, it all fell into place in that three-hour movie. There were several goodbyes, surprises, sacrifices and epic moments. It would be hard to get over it.
Unfortunately there is a feeling that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is not the same after that great event. The movies followed and even some new series were added. However, we think the MCU is in a tailspin and we’ll tell you why.
After Endgame everything feels somewhat disconnected
Throughout the first three phases of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it felt like something was under construction. Most of the tapes had a piece that gradually led us into conflict with Thanos over the Infinity Stones. But now there is no set course.
It is only enough to see what has come out so far to know that there is not as much construction as the previous arc. The series that have come out don’t feel connected to each other. Moon Knight It is not related with Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Loki not related to she hulk and so we can continue with examples.
Marvel recently revealed its plans for the future of its cinematic universe. The next stage will be known as the Multiverse Saga. But in all previous projects, we’ve only seen Loki, Dr. Strange, and Spider-Man play around with this idea. Out of 15 projects, only three leading to your next saga feels strange.
This, in turn, seems to us to fail to establish an emotion similar to that achieved by end game. After all, even those three projects gave us small tastes of the multiverse, but they didn’t go all the way.. In a certain way we are just as lost as at the beginning, and that is without counting the current quality of the productions.
The quality of Marvel has dropped quite a bit
It would be somewhat pretentious to say that the Marvel movies until end game they were perfect. There were a few hiccups, like Thor: The Dark World and Iron Man 3, but overall they were pretty enjoyable. Plus they also did their part to build the epic finale to the infinity saga.
But now, both the series and the Marvel movies suffered a drop in quality. Not only in the stories they tell, but also in their special effects. A simple visit to social networks is enough to find several examples of the terrible CGI of current productions.
As for series, it is noted that it is difficult for them to maintain a story for more than two hours. Most of the Marvel productions on Disney + feel like filler episodes and pretty forgettable stories. Almost all of them have six episodes, but by half of them, all the excitement is gone.
We recommend you: Where could Marvel’s Phase 5 go?
We knew that overcoming Endgame would be quite a difficult task, but at this moment it seems that they are not even trying. Rather, it gives a feeling that they are putting things out simply because they can or because they want to fill Disney + with content.
Avengers: Endgame was quite an event, nothing that comes feels the same
During the same event in which the future plans of the MCU were revealed, we were given a surprise. We will have two Avengers movies in the same year. 2025 will give us The Kang Dynasty Y Secret Wars. Perhaps the names could excite comic book fans. But the general public might be a bit indifferent.
Several of the problems we mentioned come together here. Several original Avengers are gone from Endgame and we’ve spent very little time with replacements. The latter have been in their own disconnected stories that do not build anything. To this we add that no more projects were announced that unite this team. What do we have to get excited about seeing them together?
Before the Avengers movies meant something. Until the popular saying of ‘an avengers level threat’ came out. But now we fall into the same of the series, it seems that they will come out to cover a fee and not because they have something worth telling.
Not to mention that we have no idea who the big rival to beat is. From casting announcements and the Loki series we know that Kang the Conqueror is the new Thanos. But until now we have no idea of his powers or what he is capable of, when his debut is in three years. While the purple giant was a latent threat from Avengers in 2012 and until Endgame in 2019.
The MCU was a pioneer in establishing shared universes. So much so that many wanted to follow his example. But if they continue to be so scattered in their progress, perhaps the fan crush will soon wane.. At least ours has already begun to decline.
