The arrival of Carlos Bacca at Junior de Barranquilla shook the Colombian market, it had very few major moves. The club quickly went out to find a replacement for Miguel Ángel Borja and thus managed to repatriate one of the idols of the fans.
Bacca, who made his debut at Barranquilla FC, in B, and had a spell with Minervén, from Venezuela, played for Junior between 2009 and 2011. He appeared in 133 games, including all official competitions, and scored 73 goals.
During his time at ‘Tiburón’, Bacca won two League titles, in 2010-I and 2011-II, and was the top scorer in those two tournaments. He was also the top scorer in the Copa Colombia on two occasions, 2009 and 2011.

The brilliant international career of Carlos Bacca
At the beginning of 2012 he left for Bruges in Belgium. He was later transferred to Sevilla in Spain (2013-2015), Milan in Italy (2015-2017) and returned to Spanish soil to wear the yellow shirt of Villarreal (2017-2021).
With Sevilla he was champion of the Europa League in 2014 and 2015, and repeated the title with the “yellow submarine” in 2021. His outstanding performances (more than 230 goals) earned him the call for the World Cups in Brazil-2014 and Russia-2018 with the Colombian national team.
Since the announcement, on Tuesday, of the arrival of Bacca, the club summoned the fans to the official presentation, which took place this Wednesday at the Roberto Meléndez stadium, before the match against Atlético Nacional.

Accompanied by his wife and three children, Bacca met the journalists before jumping back onto the Metropolitano field. He had an emotional phrase in his presentation.
“My mom up in heaven, I know she’s proud that she’s wearing this shirt again and I know she’s going to celebrate all of Junior’s goals from heaven,” Bacca declared.
“I have come to contribute with goals and experience. I have the same dream as the first day, which is to win titles. You don’t have to set limits, hopefully he can score a lot of goals,” assured the striker.
Regarding his possible debut date, Bacca declared: “I don’t like to set a date, I want to be on the court and playing as soon as possible. Hopefully it will be for the next home game.”
Later, already on the field, there was a show of lights and gunpowder in which the new reinforcement of Junior was officially presented.

Bacca joins central defenders José Enrique Ortiz and César Haydar, Argentine midfielder Iván Rossi and midfielder Nelson Deossa on the club’s signing list.
Junior has not yet closed his contract book and on social networks there is talk of the possibility of bringing Giovanni Moreno, who has just left Atlético Nacional, to his ranks, an issue that has not been confirmed by the club.
Bacca’s last match with Junior, until now, was on December 21, 2011, when he scored in the final against Once Caldas in Manizales, in which the team was later crowned champion in a tiebreaker from the penalty spot.
