Mexico.- The return of Joel Campbell to the Lion Club has had its complications given that the Tico seems not to be part of Renato Paiva’s plans for this Opening 2022, although he did not consider it ruled out but assured that by not knowing him 100% things are complicated and more so just a week after the start of Liga MX so the continuity of the Costa Rican is in doubt.
This Friday the coach had a press conference where he announced his position regarding the footballer to whom he confessed he knows little since he has not had much time to talk to him and from that point to start to consider him for his game scheme and from that point to know if it is convenient for you to have it or let it go either within Liga MX or in another country.
“We are evaluating him, he is training, he is in the squad. For now it is not closed for departures or arrivals, I need to know him, the best way is on the field training” said the Renato Paiva. For now, the player’s continuity is a very big unknown because he is one of the club’s high assets, the Central American receives a high salary, so his departure could even benefit economically.
Campbell returned from Monterey where he was on loan for a few seasons but things did not go as expected, the playing time was not optimal, as well as the issue of injuries that was a factor in his not performing. Now it is hoped that he can fill Renato Paiva’s eye to give him a new opportunity in the team. He will only have a week before Liga MX kicks off when León visits Atlético de San Luis on July 3.

Speaking of reinforcements, Paiva did confirm that León is still looking for one more element that will reinforce the defensive zone where they have not been able to find the balance for some seasons, especially in the central part. Names were not given but he assures that the board is working to find the man who will come to fix this issue.
