Speedrunner Hazeblade, a well-known name in the souls-like world, has completed Elden Ring in less than 25 minutes, to be precise in 24:37thus conquering the new world record. The company is particularly interesting as the new record was established after the latest Patches that FromSoftware published which had nerfed some of the elements on which the speedrunners relied to complete the game in a very short time.
You can admire Hazeblade’s feat in the video below. But how did the speedrunner break the old record despite the latest changes to the game?
As we can guess from the movie, the credit is thanks to a new exploit dubbed Zip Glitch, which allows you to instantly teleport the Lightless in a straight line. This is a barbatrick that has not yet been fully understood even by the speedrunners themselves and basically it is about activating the guard with the shield and then pressing W or another directional button with a certain rhythm. As you can guess, thanks to this glitch it is possible to quickly overcome entire game areas in an instant, thus saving precious minutes. The glitch calls into question all the strategies adopted so far, so it is not excluded that in the next few days we could see the world record drop further.
In all probability the glitch will be removed with the next corrective patches of Elden Ring but it is always interesting to see what they can come up with or discover the speedrunners to lower their completion times more and more.
Staying on the subject, George RR Martin commented on rumors that he hid his initials inside Elden Ring.
