The Minister of Ecological Transition Roberto Cingolani had been clear: the increase in the prices of diesel and petrol at distributors is unjustified and it represents a colossal scam that comes from the nervousness of the market and is done at the expense of businesses and citizens. And in the wake of these words, the Public Prosecutor of Rome announced yesterday morning theopening an investigation file to model 45, that is, without suspects and without the hypothesis of a crime. A sort of preventive verification, therefore, on the basis of which the authorities will have a clearer picture of the situation on the alleged irregularities.
As for the checks, Il Fatto Quotidiano on newsstands this morning explains how we will start from distributors, checking purchase and sale prices, up to oil companies. Not only that: in fact, all the various complaints that the consumer associations are presenting could also be included in the file, one above all the one filed yesterday morning by Codacons in all the prosecutors. As mentioned, the crime hypothesis has not yet been formalized: before this happens, and consequently the Antitrust is also called in, the authorities want to be sure that there is speculation taking place. AND Cingolani? According to the newspaper, it is not excluded that the minister will also be heard by the prosecutors, after his words have triggered this storm.
While the investigations are initiated, the surge in fuel prices shows no sign of slowing down. The national average of diesel now slightly exceeds petrol, positioning itself over 2.2 euros per liter in self-service and over 2.3 euros in served mode, with maximum peaks for green of 2.401 euros. LPG also rose, from € 0.881 to € 0.902 per liter, and methane, between € 1.977 and € 2.355. The speed with which fuel costs have grown is incredible: data in hand, the increases have been of half a euro in just 21 dayswhile since the beginning of the year even almost 90 cents.
