The Prosecutor General’s Office sent a request to Roskomnadzor to restrict access to Instagram
The Prosecutor General’s Office of Russia sent a request to Roskomnadzor to restrict access to the social network Instagram. This is reported RIA News.
Earlier it was reported that the Kremlin promised to take drastic measures if the social networks Facebook and Instagram, owned by the American company Meta Platforms, do not block calls for violence against Russians, including military personnel.
On March 11, the head of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Alexander Khinshtein, proposed blocking Instagram in Russia if the corporation confirms or refuses to comment on information about the resolution of calls for violence against the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in its social networks.
Roskomnadzor has already sent a request to Meta to confirm or deny information about the resolution of calls for violence against Russians. The day before it was reported that the American corporation plans to temporarily allow Facebook and Instagram in a number of countries not to block such calls. It is expected that social networks will not remove calls for violence and wishes for death against the presidents of Russia and Belarus, Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko.
