Congonhas Airport, in the south zone of São Paulo, registered 18 delays and 2 cancellations of flights on the morning of this Tuesday (Dec.20, 2022) due to the aeronauts’ strike. There were also impediments at Santos Dumont Airport, in Rio de Janeiro, with 11 delays and 5 cancellations.
The stoppage is carried out from 6:00 am to 8:00 am and affects the operations of main airports in the country. Pilots and flight attendants ask for a readjustment above inflation and better working conditions. The strike started on Monday (19.Dec.2022).
GRU Airport, the concessionaire that manages São Paulo International Airport, in Guarulhos, reported at 9:40 am that there were 5 delayed flights and none cancelled. The concessionaire advises passengers to look for airlines to find out the status of their flights.
Inframerica, manager of the Brasília terminal, foresees delays in some flights as a result of the stoppage. From 6:00 am to 8:00 am, delays were recorded in 4 flights departing from the capital and, at 9:30 am, delays were expected in 2 flights scheduled to land at the airport.
Airlines
Gol reported that all scheduled flights were operated and only a few were delayed. The company reinforced that “every effort is being made to deal with contingencies with its customers”.
Latam said it operates normally, with some occasional impacts on flights departing this morning. The airline reported that passengers with flights affected by the strike will be able to reschedule their flights free of charge or, in case of withdrawal, request a refund of their tickets.

The president of the SNA (National Union of Aeronauts), Henrique Hacklaender, informed that the strike was called to be carried out every day, always for two hours in the beginning of the morning.
The strike affects the airports of Congonhas (SP), Guarulhos (SP), Galeão (RJ), Santos Dumont (RJ), Viracopos (Campinas-SP), Porto Alegre (RS), Brasília (DF), Confins (MG) and Fortress (EC).
With the announcement of the stoppage, last week, the TST (Superior Labor Court) determined that only 10% of employees can participate. The daily fine, in case of non-compliance with the decision, will be R$ 200 thousand reais.
