Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called on Sunday for the rapid delivery of weapons to his country, after the US House of Representatives approved a new military and economic aid package for his country.
“We now have an opportunity to stabilize the situation and take the initiative. For this reason, we need to actually have weapons systems,” Zelensky said, in an interview with the American television channel NBC.
“When we get it… we will have the opportunity to take this initiative and move forward to protect Ukraine,” he added.
The Ukrainian president did not want to give a “specific timetable for the crisis” when asked, claiming that there were “too many factors.”
Zelensky declared that “long-range weapons and air defense are the priority weapons” for his country, adding that Kiev “needs long-range weapons so as not to lose people on the front line.”
Yesterday, Saturday, the US House of Representatives approved a new military aid package worth $61 billion by an overwhelming majority from both the Republican and Democratic parties.
