G-Drive Racing will return to racing for a full year of the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2022.
After some sporadic releases, the Russian team supported by Algarve Pro Racing will take part in all six events of next season with its Oreca 07-Gibson, which had been renamed Aurus in previous years.
Furthermore, to better prepare itself, G-Drive will also be at the start of the 24h of Daytona with two LMP2s, the first round of the IMSA WeatherTech Championship which will take place at the end of January.
At the moment Roman Rusinov’s team has yet to announce their lineup, even though the Russian has already said he will not be one of the drivers.
“The program has yet to be finalized and the drivers will be announced when they have been chosen, for now we are evaluating each option,” said Rusinov.
“I will not race in the WEC because I want to focus on managing the team. The goal is to win.”
Alexander Krylov, head of G-Drive Racing, added: “2022 will be a special year, as over the seasons we have established ourselves as one of the best LMP2 teams. We don’t want to stop and are working to better prepare for the next one. “.
Stuart Cox, head of Algarve Pro Racing is also satisfied: “We are delighted to extend the collaboration agreement with G-Drive Racing, as it has already been very successful. Together we have won three titles since 2019, so it’s time to do the definitive leap into the FIA WEC “.
