The Saudi authorities warned of rising temperatures in Mecca as pilgrims concluded the rituals of the current season in light of the hot weather that led to a number of deaths being recorded.
The Saudi Ministry of Health said, “Today, the Holy Sites are recording the highest temperatures since the beginning of the Hajj, which may reach 49 degrees Celsius, and we advise the pilgrims not to be exposed to the sun.”
Hajj rituals are held amid the high summer heat in Mecca and the holy places in the city and its environs, according to the Saudi National Center for Measurement and Evaluation.
On the first day of Tashreeq, the pilgrims headed to the Jamarat facility in Mina to throw the three Jamarat, starting with the smallest Jamarat, then the middle Jamarat, then Jamarat al-Aqaba, following the example and following of the Noble Messenger, may the best prayers and peace be upon him.
Multiple paths were allocated to distribute the crowds on the various floors of the Jamarat facility to ensure the smooth movement of pilgrims, thanks to God Almighty, and then with the readiness of the Jamarat project with its multiple floors, which was constructed in an engineering manner that takes into account the distribution of the density of pilgrims in throwing stones and connects it with pedestrian bridges with the Al-Mashaer train and the areas surrounding the pilgrims’ camps in Mina.
More than 1.83 million Muslims performed the Hajj in 2024, which is slightly less than the number recorded last year of 1.84 million, according to Saudi officials.
