Unemployment claims in the United States rose 8,000 last week, to 229,000, the Department of Labor reported this Thursday, 6th. The result exceeded the expectations of analysts interviewed by FactSet, who predicted an increase of 220 thousand. The previous week’s total orders were revised upwards from 219,000 to 221,000. The number of continued orders increased by 2,000 in the week ended May 25, from 1.790 million (revised number) to 1.792 million. This indicator is released one week late.
