Two reservists of the Israeli Armed Forces died this weekend in an attack against the tank in which they were in the north of the Gaza Strip, as reported this Sunday in a military statement. There are also two more soldiers injured.
“In the incident in which Captain Eitan Koplowitz and Sergeant Major Ilon Weiss fell, two soldiers from the 129th Battalion Hasan VII Brigade were seriously injured,” the Israeli Army reported in an official statement. The soldiers were evacuated to receive medical attention at a hospital and their families have already been informed.
This is the second attack against an Israeli armored vehicle in the Gaza Strip so far this weekend after eight soldiers were killed on Saturday in an attack on a Namer troop transport vehicle in the Rafah region, in the south of the Palestinian enclave.
Already on Saturday it was reported that Captain Wasim Mahmud, an Arab-Israeli, was among the dead. It is now also known that Sergeant Moshe Zimbalist, 21, died; Sergeant Itay Amar, 19, Sergeant Stanislav Kostarev, 21; Sergeant Orr Blumovitz, 20; Sergeant Oz Yeshaya Gruber, 20, and Sergeant Yakir Yaakov Levi, 21. The last of the eight names will be made public later.
With these there are already 311 deaths of Israeli soldiers in the framework of the military offensive on the Gaza Strip launched in response to the militia attacks on October 7 in which some 1,200 people died and more than 200 were kidnapped. Almost 37,300 people, most of them civilians, have died in the Israeli offensive.
