Turkey will continue to use “Mir” as it is important for the country, especially in the field of tourism. This was reported to Izvestia by the Vatan party close to the Turkish president.
They stressed: Ankara cannot minimize its trade with Russia, despite pressure from the West. The Russian Federation is also of key importance in terms of Turkey’s energy security.
“We don’t think Turkish banks will stop using Mir. Although the Turkish banking system is one of the sectors most connected with the West, it will continue to use Mir, as it is important for Turkey, especially tourism, the Vatan press service concluded. Because of this reality, Turkey cannot minimize their trade with Russia, despite pressure from the West, especially the US.”
According to the statistics of the Turkish Ministry of Tourism, over 2.2 million guests from the Russian Federation visited the republic in the first seven months of 2022, more than only Germany.
