Juarez City.- Although road accidents were reduced this past weekend, compared to the previous week, fatalities persisted, as well as mishaps caused by drunk drivers, reported Arlín Vargas, spokesperson for the General Coordination of Road Safety.
He specified that from June 14 to 16, 49 traffic events occurred, two of them were accidents and one of the victims died; the rest were crashes and rollovers.
Additionally, three collisions were caused by drunk drivers.
While from June 7 to 9, Road Safety documented 56 road events, two of them were accidents and the rest were crashes and rollovers.
It was precisely in a crash where two people died on Francisco Villarreal Torres Boulevard and Camino Viejo to San José, where the driver of the digital platform and his passenger died due to excessive speed and the lack of expertise at the wheel of the 20-year-old driver. .
During that weekend two of the reported crashes were carried out by drunk people.
The Road Safety spokesperson said that the fatality reported this past weekend involves a pedestrian, still unidentified, who died after being hit by the train.
The accident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, June 15, in the Rincón del Cielo neighborhood, reported the Road Safety spokesperson.
The death was reported at 3:40 a.m. at the intersection of Constellación and Estrella streets, about two kilometers from Independencia Boulevard, south of the city.
Around that time, the locomotive marked with the number 6672 was traveling from north to south, and when passing through the indicated intersection, it collided with the lower right front part of a man of unknown identity.
The man was split in two due to the impact.
Areas close to the road accident where the railway tracks also pass do not have any protection such as a metal fence and visible notices of railway activity.
The Coordination determined that the pedestrian’s recklessness was the cause of the incident.
