The UAE participated in the Ukraine Recovery Conference, which was held on June 11-12 and lasted for two days in Berlin, Germany.
During the conference, the UAE expressed its commitments to the Ukrainian people and achieving recovery and reconstruction. It also affirmed the UAE’s ongoing efforts aimed at reaching a peaceful solution to the conflict, and stressed the importance of diplomacy, dialogue, reducing escalation, and reducing the humanitarian repercussions resulting from the crisis.
Her Excellency Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State for International Cooperation, headed the UAE delegation participating in the conference, where she stressed the UAE’s belief in the importance of maintaining channels of communication with all parties.
It also reviewed the success of the UAE’s mediation in facilitating the exchange of prisoners for the fourth time since the beginning of this year, which reflects the country’s strong relationship with both sides.
Her Excellency Reem Al Hashemi affirmed the UAE’s commitment to achieving strong partnerships with Ukraine through the completion of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, as the latest historical achievement in bilateral relations.
Her Excellency highlighted the UAE’s efforts, which included allocating $105 million in humanitarian aid to Ukraine, including food, medical supplies, ambulances, electric generators, laptops, and education supplies to provide support to civilians in Ukraine, especially children.
The UAE also stated its plans to provide support based on improving the educational and health system in Ukraine, including women’s health and mental health.
On the sidelines of the conference, Her Excellency Reem Al Hashemi held bilateral meetings with First Lady Olena Zelenska, wife of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Thomas Bagger, Secretary General of the Federal Foreign Office in Germany, and Jens Plotner, Special Adviser for Foreign and Security Policy Affairs in Germany.
His Excellency Reem Al Hashemi was accompanied by Ahmed Al Attar, UAE Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany.
