The former governor of the Chelyabinsk region, founder of Makfa, Mikhail Yurevich, filed a claim for protection of honor, dignity and business reputation for 100 million rubles in the Presnensky District Court of Moscow against TV presenter Andrei Malakhov and the Rossiya 1 TV channel. This was announced by the lawyer of the ex-head of the region, Igor Trunov.
The defense lawyer explained that the show contained statements that discredited the honor, dignity and business reputation of Yurevich.
When such statements are made in court, this is permissible; when such statements are made on a federal channel, this violates the rights and freedoms of citizens and the presumption of innocence
“When a federal channel throughout the country calls a person a corrupt official and a fraudster, this is a certain measure of pressure and influence on the court,” he said.
