The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia reacted to the report on the capture by soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) of 37 Russians living in the village of Staromaryevka, located in the “gray zone”, and called on Germany, France and the OSCE to urge Kiev to end violence in Donbass. About it informs Department of Information and Press of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
“We continue to monitor the development of the situation. For our part, we will do everything possible to protect the rights and interests of Russian citizens, wherever they are, including in the Donbass, ”the statement reads.
The ministry pointed out that at the moment in the village there are representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross and employees of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission, monitoring the situation from drones. Local residents were provided with food and basic necessities.
Earlier, the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of the Ceasefire (JCCC) in Donbass reported that on October 26, the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics were subjected to massive artillery shelling from the Ukrainian Armed Forces. It is noted that during the day, the Ukrainian military inflicted more than 110 strikes, using heavy artillery, mortars, infantry fighting vehicles, an attack drone and small arms.
