The United States approved a million-dollar military aid package for Ukraine after months of stagnation in Congress and opposition from the Republican caucus. How will this aid affect the course of the war in Ukraine? We analyze it in El Debate.
The aid package for Ukraine advanced after months of blockades and negotiations in the United States Congress. The greatest resistance came from the Republican-dominated House of Representatives, who opposed accepting Joe Biden's proposed funding before the president tightened measures to control irregular immigration on the southern border with Mexico.
Finally, the package was also approved by the Senate with 75 votes in favor and 20 against.
With this new injection of resources, Ukraine could strengthen its defense and continue its resistance against Russia. Although there are still steps to complete for the funds to become a reality, the country is already celebrating this decision. The big question is whether these resources will be enough to change the course of the war or whether they will arrive later than necessary.
