The carving of Capuz will leave the temple at 8:00 p.m. on its throne on a litter to go through the Cuesta de San Francisco, Óvalo de Santa Paula and Juan Carlos I avenues in an extraordinary procession until it reaches the Alameda de la Constitución where a pontifical mass in his honor at 9:00 p.m., officiated by the bishop, José Manuel Lorca Planes.
After the mass, which will last 90 minutes, the image will return to San Francisco again in procession and is expected to cross the threshold of the temple again at 11:45 p.m.
For the occasion, El Paso Azul has made hangings with the image of La Dolorosa on a blue background that will adorn the balconies of the city and that can be purchased at the store of the Blue Museum of Holy Week (MASS).
Banners will also be placed along the route and in the place where the mass will be officiated. A large pennant already shines on the exterior facade of the church tower to announce the anniversary to the people of Lorca.
The president announced that the events will begin this Friday with the inauguration at 8:00 p.m. in the church of San Francisco of a “unique and historic” exhibition entitled ‘Teacher and friend of teaching. It will consist of a dozen works belonging to parishes and public institutions and private collections. It will be commissioned by Ignacio José García and Manuel Pérez Sánchez and “it will become one of the most important cultural events in the city,” said Miñarro.
On the 13th, a concert will be held in the church of San Patricio to commemorate the anniversary of the coronation of the images of the blue and white steps, organized with the collaboration of the City Council and the Tourism Institute of the Region of Murcia, and in which the The Bartolomé Pérez Casas choir will perform Mozart’s Mass in C Major and other works by classical composers.
On September 14, the Exaltation of the Cross ceremony will take place in the church of San Francisco at 8:30 p.m., which will be the preamble to the big day for the blues.
