The Community is close to 190,000 complaints on the road in 2021, 12.6% more than in 2019, a pre-pandemic period
The fixed radar of the Region of Murcia that caught the most drivers last year for exceeding the established speed limits is located at kilometer point 18 of the RM19, in the district of Balsicas (San Javier), specifically at the height of the town of the Hells.
This device of the DGT registered 27,205 complaints for speeding, placing it as the thirteenth radar that notified the most complaints on roads throughout the country.
In this sense, the Region accumulated 55 complaints per kilometer, while, in terms of the average number of complaints filed according to the number of the vehicle fleet (1,123,006), the Community registered 0.16 complaints per vehicle, according to with the report ‘Radiography of traffic fines in Spain 2021’, published this week by Associated European Motorists (AEA).

And although Andalusia is the community with the highest number of complaints in absolute terms (981,605), it is in the Community of Madrid where the largest number of infractions is detected based on the extension of its road network, with 130 complaints per kilometer.
Leading in fines
The General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) made a total of 189,052 complaints on the roads of the Region of Murcia in 2021, which represents an increase of 12.6% in relation to the figures accumulated in 2019, a pre-pandemic year.
Thus, the Region is among the communities that have seen an increase in the number of complaints along with Aragon (58.5%); Navarre (46.8%); Castile and León (39.1%); Galicia (33.5%); Cantabria (31.8%); Canary Islands (6.1%); Asturias (2.2%) and Valencian Community (1.9%).

According to the AEA report, 4,793,520 complaints were registered throughout the country last year, which represented an increase of 23.6% compared to those made in 2020 (3,877,297) and a “record” collection for fines of traffic of 444,347,376 euros.
Speeding continues to lead the ‘ranking’ of the penalties imposed by the DGT in 2021 with 3,056,437.
“This notable increase in the number of complaints made shows the rapid recovery of the sanctioning activity carried out by the DGT after the limitations on mobility imposed by Covid-19 in 2020, since even the pre-pandemic figures reached in 2020 are exceeded. 2019, when 4,685,570 complaints were filed, most of them for speeding (62%) », details the AEA report.
