The Prosecutor’s Office of Samui, Thailand, delivered this Wednesday to the court a report in which it accuses the Spaniard Daniel Sancho of premeditated murder and concealment of the body of the Colombian doctor Edwin Arrieta, the same charges considered by the Police in their investigation of the case. They had until October 29 to conclude it.

The Samui court assured EFE sources, who confirmed the information, thatThe Prosecutor’s Office maintains the same charges against Sancho of premeditated murder and concealment of the body previously established by the Police.
The charges will be read to Sancho by the Prosecutor’s Office at a court hearing on the island of Samui on Thursday, at which the Spaniard will be present.
In the event that Sancho has not hired a private lawyer, the judge will assign one ex officio, according to what they said from the court.
The 29-year-old Spaniard, in principle, does not have a lawyer in Thailand – where he can only be defended by a Thai lawyer – since September 7, after the Spanish actor Rodolfo Sancho, father of the accused, dispensed with the lawyer’s services. Thai Anan Chuayprabat for “discrepancies in defense”.

Sancho has been in provisional detention in Samui prison since last August 7 and two days before he was arrested on the island of Phangan, after confessing to the murder and dismemberment of the Colombian surgeon, whose remains were scattered around the island and the sea.
Thailand’s Penal Code provides for the death penalty for crimes such as premeditated murder, but, if issued, this is usually later commuted to life imprisonment.
Besides, the confession and cooperation of the accused can help significantly reduce the sentenceas the judge himself reminded Sancho on August 7, when he was brought to justice.

The Police delivered their report to the Prosecutor’s Office on October 3, after two months of investigating the alleged crime, which took place on August 2 in Phangan.
