Nowadays, Chinese stores have become a trend, as they offer products that are very helpful for prices much lower than those that can be found in local stores, one of those brands is Temuwhich is slowly becoming more established in the world. However, there are certain details that have made the authorities think that they are hiding something that they are not telling, which is why both the page and the application are being accused of introducing malware.
Recently, Tim Griffin, the Attorney General of Arkansasfiled a lawsuit against the company, accusing it of being malware designed to spy on users. Griffin is reported to have claimed that Temu collects and sells user data for profit. This accusation is not new, as Chinese apps have faced similar accusations.
The lawsuit cites a 2023 investigation by Grizzly Researchwhich discovered hidden code in the software that allegedly collects user data, including location, shopping habits, and payment information. Griffin also accused Temu of violating the Arkansas Deceptive Trade Practices Act (ADTPA) by misleading customers with deceptive offers and tools that collect personal information.
In response to the lawsuit, the company defended itself by issuing a statement and clarifying the situation through a popular YouTuber which has 216 million subscribers. It highlighted its certification from Dekra, a German company, received in February 2024, which attests to its security. In addition, it is available on major platforms such as App Store and Google Play Store, suggesting compliance with its safety standards.
Despite security assurances from Temu and its commitment to ongoing research, it remains critical that users read privacy notices and app permissions when installing new software.

Author’s note: I have never bought anything from them, but I have always heard that their products do not last too long, and that is due to the price they charge for them.
