Television review There is basic good British production between the two rivers – The series has confusing similarities with the Finnish All Sins series

In the Gay League the living police return to their homeland to investigate the murder, which seems to be somehow connected to the narrow-minded religious community in the locality.

Sounds familiar. This is Finnish All sins series initial setup. Johannes Holopaisen the actor has to face his past in a Lestadian community on the outskirts of Oulu. He has left his home village when homosexuality was not tolerated there.

British a four-part crime series Between two rivers is located in Devon, near the city of Bristol. The main character is Matthew Venn (Ben Aldridge) has moved back there and acquired a lavish house with her husband. Matthew’s father has just died, and it turns out the boy’s memories of his father are heavy.

The boy felt that his religious parents forced him to leave. This is discussed together with the mother (Juliet Stevenson).

The man’s body has been found on the beach, and Matthew and his colleagues begin to investigate the man’s background. It turns out there’s all sorts of things to hide at the local day center, but Matthew also wants to rummage through the religious community. A detail is mentioned about the sect that its members do not accept television – nor do the Lestadians.

Initial setup after the similarities All sins series actually run out, but could the idea have even theoretically passed from Finns to the British or vice versa?

The British series is based on, among other things Vera from Stanhop known Ann Cleevesin to a book published in 2019. All sins The first season of the series was completed in the same year, but its characters were developed years earlier, and the script was apparently also traded on ITV, which is a subscriber to the Cleeves series.

The idea could therefore have passed through ITV even to the author’s ears. All sins ended up with Sky Vision.

Between two rivers is a basic good British series with convincing role performances. Devon’s landscapes are spreading widely, and the sea brings drama. There is an unnecessary clutter in the plot at times, but the focus remains on the atmosphere of the locality and the interpersonal relationships.
