The month of April marked the 17th consecutive month of salary adjustments above inflation in collective negotiations, according to the monthly Salariometer survey, carried out by Fipe (Fundação Instituto de Pesquisas Econômicas).
Readjusted April salaries had a median increase of 4.5%. The percentage is above the INPC (National Consumer Price Index) accumulated in the month, of 3.4%.

The real gain (what remains after discounting inflation) was 1.1 percentage points – the best result for the month since 2014. According to the survey, more than 40% of the month’s adjustments had a real gain of 2 percentage points or more.
The research analyzed 179 collective work instruments with adjustments in April.
The average salary floor last month was R$1,553, 9.4% above the minimum wage, established at R$1,412 for 2024 by the Federal Government.
Almost 90% of adjustments exceeded inflation
In addition to the monthly results, the publication also released a consolidated report for the first four months of the year: between January and April, 87.8% of negotiated adjustments were above inflation, reaching the best mark for the period in 10 years.
Civil construction recorded the biggest real gain among the sectors analyzed (2.7%), followed by the services and agricultural sector (1.3%), industry (1.2%) and commerce (1%).
Looking a little deeper, the activities with the greatest gains were collective meals, urban cleaning, cleanliness and conservation, condominiums and buildings, civil construction, bars, restaurants, hotels, entertainment and tourism. The oil derivatives trading sector had no real gains recorded in the year.
Fipe has a positive projection for May. According to the preview for the month, based on the analysis of 153 instruments already available, the tendency is for the average adjustment to be 5.5% compared to an expected INPC of 3.2%, according to projections from Itaú and Santander presented in the bulletin.
