Doctor Gandelman: sleeping more than 10 hours increases the risk of death from stroke
Cardiologist German Gandelman on the air of the program “Live Healthy!” on Channel One said that the habit of sleeping more than 10 hours increases the risk of death from stroke. An issue in which a specialist revealed to Russians the dangers of long-term sleep, available on the channel’s website.
Gandelman said that six to eight hours of sleep is considered healthy. “And sleeping more than 10 hours is considered harmful,” the doctor noted.
The doctor cited the results of a British study in which scientists analyzed data from more than three million people. “The conclusion was that 10 hours of sleep or more increases the risk of premature death by 30 percent, the risk of death from stroke by 56 percent, and the risk of death from cardiovascular disease by 50 percent,” the cardiologist concluded.
Previously, doctors Elena Malysheva and German Gandelman named a common mistake in headaches that leads to stroke. Doctors have said that taking migraine drugs – triptans – can lead to stroke.
