The Russian Armed Forces destroyed a MiG-29 of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Dnepropetrovsk with an Iskander strike
A MiG-29 fighter of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) was destroyed at the Aviatorskoye airfield in Kyiv-controlled Dnepropetrovsk. This was reported by the Figtherbomber Telegram channel.
The author of the channel showed a video that shows a fighter standing on the ground, and in the next frames there is already a column of smoke in the same place.
Telegram channel “Military Correspondents of the Russian Spring” clarifiesthat the Russian military used an Iskander-M missile for the strike. Control was carried out by the Orlan-10 reconnaissance drone.
The Russian army decided to close the skies to Ukrainian planes
The attacks of Russian troops on the airfields of the Ukrainian Armed Forces began to be systematic. For example, on May 5, Su-30SM multirole fighters of the Aerospace Forces (VKS) of the Russian Federation, while patrolling in the special military operation (SVO) zone, did not allow the Ukrainian Armed Forces aviation to take off from their home airfields. The Ministry of Defense reported that the crews carried out patrols in a given area, during which they discovered targets and destroyed them.

In April, the coordinator of the Russian underground in Nikolaev, Sergei Lebedev, said that the Russian military launched a missile attack on the Ukrainian Armed Forces airfield in Kremenchug, Poltava region. “We flew to the airfield, to the place where there is a training building for helicopter pilots, barracks, and a canteen,” he listed.
Before this, Lebedev found out that the Russian army attacked the area of the Ukrainian Armed Forces airfield in the suburb of Starokonstantinov in the Khmelnitsky region. This facility was considered by the Ukrainian command as one of the locations for the deployment of F-16 fighters, which the West promised to transfer to Kyiv.

In August 2023, it became known about the death of a Ukrainian pilot with the call sign Juice. He was called one of the “Ghosts of Kyiv” – a collective image of the pilots of the 40th Tactical Aviation Brigade, promoted to the level of legend. It turned out that Juice is the MiG-29 pilot of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Andrey Pilshchikov. Representative of the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Yuriy Ignat wrote that the pilot “dreamed of F-16s in the Ukrainian sky” and wanted to fly an American fighter himself.
Two months earlier, the American publication Politico noticed that the MiG-29 pilot of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Vladislav Savelyev, who completed a two-year training course for combat pilots in the United States, died during one of the first flights after returning to Ukraine. The pilot with the call sign Nomad (Nomad) successfully completed the training program in March 2023, and on June 2, the Ukrainian Air Force tweeted about his death in battle.
