Vladimir Putin awarded the Order of Honor to singer Nikolai Baskov
Russian President Vladimir Putin awarded the Order of Honor to People’s Artist and singer Nikolai Baskov. The corresponding decree published on the official legal information portal.
The document says that the performer was awarded “for his services to the development of national culture and art, and many years of fruitful activity.”
Nikolai Baskov was born on October 15, 1976 in Moscow. He gained wide popularity in the country as a pop singer in 2000 after the release of a video clip for the song “In Memory of Caruso” and holding several solo concerts in the Moscow Rossiya Concert Hall.
Today the artist’s repertoire is diverse. It includes opera arias, folk songs, romances, popular works by Soviet, Russian and foreign composers. Nikolai Baskov also starred in television musicals and TV series.
In early October, Vladimir Putin awarded theater and film actor Gosha Kutsenko with the Order of Merit in Culture and Art. RAMT actress Tatyana Shatilova was awarded a similar award.
Earlier, the Russians named the leaders of the national stage in 2023. Thus, this year Yaroslav Dronov, performing under the pseudonym SHAMAN, became the best performer; he received 33 percent of the votes. Second place went to Oleg Gazmanov (11 percent of the vote), who was the leader last year. Nikolai Baskov also made it into the top three, with 10 percent of respondents voting for him.
